EVUSHELD is a medication that is FDA approved for for pre-exposure prophylaxis for prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This means this medication is taken as a precaution to protect from developing severe illness covid infection in future.
It is used for patients who are immune compromised due to a medical condition or on immunosuppressive medicines who may be at risk for severe COVID 19 in infection due to weakened immune system.
EVUSHELD consists of two antibody combinations
It is 2 intramuscular injections, given one after the other.
It seems to afford protection for upto six months as per current studies. Ongoing protection after that is to be determined.
